Praising God for Answered Prayer

I’ve been blessed to meet many of our friends and supporters over the last two months as I’ve traveled to 15 Wesleyan District Conference events.

I met a man who first heard about us as a child through the Wesleyan Kids for Missions program at his church. I met widows who have been praying for our ministry, and sending what they can, for 20 or 30 years.  And I met people who have been coming to South Dakota for 20 years to serve on short-term ministry teams.

Many have asked me, “Are my gifts making a difference?  Will revival ever come in Native lands?  Will we ever see Native communities transformed by the power of Jesus Christ?”

I was glad to be able to tell them that “Yes, God is answering your prayers in amazing ways.”  We’re starting to see signs of revival and of lives and communities being transformed!

In fact, through the ministry of one Native church alone, He Sapa New Life Wesleyan Church in Rapid City, SD, 200 people have come to Christ in the last year, through some innovative outreach ministries.  Rev. Larry Salway, the pastor, says he’s never seen such a movement of God in all his 43 years of ministry.

What’s making the difference?  We think God is honoring our renewed focus on equipping and empowering Native men and women as pastors and leaders who will reach their people for Christ in ways that are relevant to, and respectful of, their native culture.

We praise God for the hearts that are opening as Native people see and understand the gospel through Native eyes.

And we ask for your help in responding to these unprecedented opportunities. Would you please ask God how He wants you to get involved, and respond as He leads?
