We have several sponsorship opportunities for churches and individuals who want to provide larger or multi-year gifts to help underwrite the cost of educating future Native leaders, provide support for Native pastors and churches, start new Native churches, or help fund special outreach or building projects.
Leadership Development – A gift to our Leadership Development Fund helps us provide scholarships to emerging Native leaders to help them pursue ministerial training and ordination in the Wesleyan Church through FLAME, district ministerial training courses, college, or seminary.
Church Planting – A gift for Church Planting helps us start new churches in Native communities where few follow Christ. We greatly value multi-year commitments for church planting, because many of these churches are in low-income Native communities where it takes longer to become self-sustaining through tithes and offerings.
Pastoral Support – A gift for Pastoral Support helps underwrite the salary of a Native pastor where the church is not able to support him or her through tithes and offerings.
Special Outreach Events – Culturally relevant special outreach events have proven to be very effective for Native churches to reach their people for Christ. Your gift for Special Outreach Events will help us sponsor summer block parties, sports camps, Christmas Native Nativity programs, concerts, food giveaways, community meals, and more.
Building Projects – From time to time we have the opportunity to help with special Building Projects. Right now, these projects are in the works:
- New parsonage for Pastor Darwin Tsosie on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. This new parsonage will be located next-door to his church, Red Rock Community Church, located near Keams Canyon. This will provide greater security for the church property, bring Pastor Darwin closer to the community surrounding the church, and it will be a big blessing for his son Titus, who was seriously injured last year in an auto accident and left a paraplegic.
- New addition to worship center or new worship center for He Sapa New Life Wesleyan Church in Rapid City, South Dakota. He Sapa is bursting at the seams and meets or exceeds its worship seating capacity on a regular basis. Over the last year, over 300 people have come to Christ through the ministry of this dynamic Native Wesleyan church! They are exploring whether to expand their existing worship center or build a new one on their property.
If you’d like to help with any of these projects, or explore more ways you can help, please contact Rev. Rich Avery, WNM’s director at 616-456-0097 or rich@wesleyannativeministries.org.
